You have just become a new parent, and aside from recovering from labor, as well as the overall excitement, you now have a beautiful new baby to take care of. If you did not take any parenting classes or just skimmed over the material, you probably feel a bit overwhelmed. However, you do not need to worry, because all you need are some effective parenting tips.
Parenting Tip #1 - Unless Instructed Otherwise, Nurse Your Newborn Often
Some pediatricians want to set a nursing mother up on a schedule as soon as possible. If you gave birth to a child that is slightly premature (i.e., three weeks or more) a parenting tip you should follow is to nurse your baby as often as the baby displays signs of hunger, which can actually be all the time!
The reason for nursing your new baby often is that breast milk is known to have helpful antibodies in it to build a strong immune system. Also, the last few weeks of a baby being in the womb has the baby gathering fat, which is necessary. So, a premature baby usually is much smaller because the baby did not have the opportunity to do so. Frequent nursing helps to get the baby on a solid path as far as weight gain.
Parenting Tip #2 - Check The Diaper Often
Some parents think that checking a diaper every few hours is sufficient. However, an important parenting tip is to check the diaper every hour. Remember, babies urinate and excrete far more often than adults, because their digestive system is not completely formed yet. So, be sure to check your baby's diaper at least once an hour. Doing so will make sure you are on guard for diaper rash, which can occur if the baby is not changed immediately.
Parenting Tip #3 - Be Sure to Burp Your Baby Often
Babies often get gas while feeding, mostly because along with the milk they also suck in a lot of air. So, make sure that as you are feeding the baby, take a few moments to gently pat the baby's back and wait for that important burp.
Remember, it will all have to come down to your own mothering instincts, because that is really the most important thing, and every baby is different. Take the time to enjoy every second of your baby's growing journey, because time certainly does go by quickly, and before you know it, your baby will be an adult!

Parenting Facts & Tips
The foster parenting program may come into place in situations where a parent is considered unfit or unwell. These cases are complicated, but the parental rights are typically temporarily removed and replaced with foster care rights granted by the state or county. From this point, these cases head through the foster care system. Unfortunately, these cases rarely end up going very well and the children are typically sent through a variety of foster care homes as care limits expire.
