The Geography of Maine
The state of Maine is situated on the eastern most point of the United States of America. Specifically, on the north it borders the province of Québec located in the country of Canada and on its easternmost border lies against the province of New Brunswick. In addition, the southernmost border of the State of Maine lines up against the Atlantic Ocean.
In size, the state of Maine ranks as 39th amongst 50 states that comprise the United States of America. Specifically, the square mileage on the state of Maine is 35,387.
Additionally, when it comes to describing the state of Maine it can be effectively accomplished by slicing up the state into three specific areas. Those specific areas include the Seaboard Lowland, Longfellow Mountains and the New England Upland.
When describing these three specific areas of Maine, it can be said that the Seaboard Lowland is the coastal range, the Longfellow Mountains are small mountains that are rounded in nature with elevations being as high as 1 mile and that the upland area of Maine, is hilly with rising and falling plateaus.
The Benefits Of A Summer Camp In Maine
Therefore, because of the geography and the climate of Maine in the summertime, experiencing the outdoors by attending a summer camp in Maine is a memorable experience. Specifically, the abundance of waterways, the towering pines and the rolling hills lend themselves to typical activities that one would find at a summer camp. Those typical activities that would be enhanced by attending a summer camp in Maine would include hiking, canoeing, boating, swimming, etc.
Additionally, because of the respect and appreciation of the Native American population found in the state of Maine, this too adds to a quality summer camp in Maine experience.
