When it comes to keeping a healthy weight in children, there is nothing more important or efficient then that of prevention. There should really be a lot more focus put on the prevention of childhood obesity then there currently seems to be. The prevention of childhood obesity is the only way to make sure that weight never becomes a true issue for your child so that they can remain physically and mentally healthy. A healthy child is one that eats a well balanced diet and that gets plenty of regular exercise.
Sadly enough, studies show that only about half of children and teenagers get a regular dose of exercise. This could be one of the reasons that obesity in children seems to be growing at a rapid rate.
Prevention of childhood obesity is more then just watching what someone eats but it is all about making sure that there is plenty of exercise taking place. Get active with your kids and be involved in the sports or activities that they are involved in. By being a good influence and setting a good example, you will be sure to be on the path of prevention of childhood obesity.
Preventing Childhood Obesity - Things To Keep In Mind
If the prevention of childhood obesity is not taken serious and you allow your children to become over weight, you may be setting them for a life long struggle with weight issues. Studies show that children who are over weight have about a seventy percent chance of growing into adults who are over weight. Also, those children who did not have parents who took prevention of childhood obesity serious find themselves with a lot of health problems. Sleep apnea and childhood diabetes are just two of the most common health issues found in children who are over weight.
Besides the physical problems that will most likely occur in the children who are over weight, there are a lot of emotional problems to consider as well. Children who are over weight may end up self-conscious about their weight and appearance and these issues can carry on with them into their adult life. Even if as adults they end up in better physical shape, those emotional issues may stick around and cause a lot of damage in their life. In the end, you can see why the prevention of childhood obesity is so important. So learn everything you can and take all steps necessary to make sure that your child is a healthy child.
