Young children can be cruel at times without really meaning it. According to studies, children imitate the things that they see or hear around them. If a child often sees acts of bullying in the home, he or she will think that bullying is okay. In most cases, he or she will start bullying his or her peers thinking that it is the right thing to do.
If you are a teacher and you have observed that some of your students are bullying their peers, it would be best for you to design some anti bullying lesson plans to help your students understand that bullying in not a good thing. When formulating your anti bullying lesson plans, make sure that you use easy to understand symbolisms to help the children grasp the meaning of your presentations.
Making Your Anti Bullying Lesson Plans
Before you start making anti bullying lessons plans, make sure that you assess the level of comprehension of your students. If you are dealing with very young children, it would be a good idea to find some model anti bullying lesson plans and get some ideas from them.
If your school has an anti bullying support group, you may want to solicit ideas from the members of this group as to how you can teach the kids in your class about the negative impacts of bullying. Note that dealing with very young children can be quite challenging especially if these children already have some preconceived notions about bullying.
When formulating your anti bullying lesson plans, try to come up with some creative presentations. A puppet show is usually very effect among small children. According to experts, most children are attracted to puppet shows and they are more likely to pay attention to what the puppets are saying that you what people are saying. Since children relates well to puppet shows so this could be a very good way to teach them something.
Implementing Your Anti Bullying Lesson Plans
Once you have formulated sound anti bullying lesson plans, make sure that you implement your lesson plans immediately. Do not wait for a long before you start teaching the children in your class about the negative effects of bullying. Always remember that bullying can be very traumatic to small children and it could have some lasting negative effects on them. The sooner you put a stop to the bullying in your classroom, the better.
