Punishment is used as a last resort, and no harsh punishments are given. Child is aptly rewarded when the expected standards are met. The child is motivated to live up to the expectations of parents, and parents carefully plan to channelize their energy.

Children who are brought up using democratic style methods of child discipline are usually independent minded, active, outgoing, balanced in behavior, positive, and friendly.

Whatever methods of child discipline parents choose, keep in mind to stay calm and focused. Don’t use criticism, and try to divert from negatives all the time. It is advisable to avoid any kind of physical punishment, as it will make child more angry and aggressive.
