Infertility can be a result of several factors, but it generally refers to a disease that hinders the reproductive system's ability to reproduce. Roughly 10% of those who are at the age where they can reproduce actually suffer from reproductive issues. Fortunately, the overwhelming majority of those cases can easily be treated through fertility drugs and other fertility enhancing methods. Only a small percentage of people with reproductive complications have more serious issues that cannot be repaired.

Couples who suffer from infertility issues can take advantage of a number of infertility treatments to improve their situation. Oftentimes, infertility causes can be treated through changing one's diet or other behavior whereas other times, medication or surgery might be the most effective option. Caffeine and smoking can contribute to infertility issues in females. Excessive stress can also be a factor that hinders the female reproductive system from properly contributing to conception. Women who have recently stopped oral birth control also might experience a period of infertility.

Contrary to what many people believe, infertility causes are equally shared by both males and females. According to studies, approximately one-third of men in a relationship contribute to the infertility causes of a couple. Equally, approximately one-third of women in a relationship have infertility issues which results in problems with conception. The remaining percentage of infertility issues are either a combination of both parties having a problem or a result of unexplainable fertility causes.

One of the most common reasons for female infertility is a result of some type of ovulation disorder or blocked fallopian tubes. With some infertility disorders, an egg traveling through the fallopian tube gets stopped by either a cyst or some other growth in the area. Sperm can often reach the egg in the fallopian tube, but it cannot continue the process of fertilization until it reaches the uterus. This causes a problem in terms of conceiving. Other problems, such as

Male infertility causes are often a result of the sperm's temperature. If a man wears underwear that is either too constrictive or too loose, the temperature in his reproductive system is not ideal for sperm production. As a result, sperm production is often reduced a great deal which hinders fertility after intercourse. Oftentimes, a male's diet can even cause infertility. Toxins and chemicals in certain foods can restrict sperm production and the strength of the sperm so that they are unable to properly fertilize an ovum. Many times, this can easily be solved. Other times, the male might have to undergo more drastic infertility treatments to help increase sperm production and versatility.

Current infertility treatments have been a great way to help couples overcome their infertility issues. With many of these treatments being simple changes to one's behavior, couples can increase their chances for conception with just a few minor corrections. More serious infertility issues might have to be dealt with through other methods, including surgery. Unfortunately, a small percentage of couples cannot benefit from any method because of very serious reproductive problems.
