Fertility Boosters

Here is a list of certain items and simple tips that can enhance your fertility.

We can call them fertility boosters.

But you have to keep in mind that these ‘boosters’ can only further the process, they cannot do wonders in moments.

Let's examine this in more detail ...

First, here is a list of items that you can include in your routine to enhance your fertility.

  • Water- It is one of the simplest fertility boosters. Drinking 4-6 glasses of it everyday will clean out your body and will keep it ready for conception. It also helps in increasing the fertile quality cervical fluid.
  • Vitamin B6- By lengthening the luteal phase, it boosts fertility. It can also help to alleviate PMS and later morning sickness in the case of pregnancy. It is safe enough to be taken during the entire cycle and pregnancy. 50 mg daily is the required dose.
  • Certain herbs and nuts that can be taken as boosters:
    • Green Tea - Compounds present in green tea influence the liver and consequently estrogen level.
    • Leafy vegetables that are dark green in color. These contain folic acid in abundance.
    • Seeds of sunflower are an excellent source of vitamin E.
    • Wheat germs are also rich in vitamin E. In addition, they also contain vitamin B, selenium and Zinc.
    • Almond if taken raw can provide calcium B2.
    • Vitex, another name of which is Chaste tree Berry, is a hormone regulator herb. Many women have confirmed its efficiency.
  • Progesterone Cream- It also helps to lengthen the luteal phase, though it is meant for menopausal women. It can be used twice a day from ovulation to menstruation phase.
  • Low Dose Aspirin - It is also called baby aspirin (81 mg). It can help in lowering the risk of certain kinds of miscarriages. You can take it throughout the cycle once a day.
  • Evening Primrose Oil - It is an essential fatty acid that helps in producing fertile quality cervical fluid.

Apart from these prescribed things, there are certain proscribed things also that couples should avoid if they want to have kids. Below are some of these things:

  • Consumption of alcohol, tobacco and caffeinated drinks
  • Processed food
  • A commercial vaginal lubricant. However, egg white is an allowed option.
  • Over use of any drug

Finally, here is a list of tips that will help further to ease your task.

  • There are certain number of days in your menstrual cycle when having sex will increase your chances of conception. Like three days before, one day before and the day after ovulation occurs.
  • Lose weight - Heavy weight affects ovulation adversely.
