It is very fascinating for parents-to-be to know the gender of their baby. Every method from old wives tales to scientific methods to determine the sex of their baby excites them. Basically, there are three methods to determine gender selection pregnancy. These include:
- Pre-natal testing and termination of pregnancy
- Pre-implantation genetic testing of embryos
- Sperm sorting that is followed by insemination or IVF
A woman conceives a baby on the fertilization of the egg i.e. produced by the mother, by the sperm, which is produced by the father. The egg carries only X chromosome while both X and Y-chromosomes are carried by the sperm. If the sperm carrying X fertilizes the egg, then it will be a baby girl, on the other hand if a sperm carrying Y chromosome fertilizes the egg, then a woman will conceive baby boy.
In order to have a gender selection pregnancy of your own choice, you require learning about how to recognize your cervical fluid very well. It is good if you keep a chart before you think of conceiving. According to a theory, sperm that carry the male chromosome i.e. Y are delicate and small but very quick. On the contrary, female sperm is larger and harder but sluggish. People who are stick to this theory believe that one can improve the chances of conceiving the gender of one’s own choice. It can be done by timing the sexual activity for once close to ovulation as mush as possible, however, not indulging in sexual intercourse during the same cycle. The reason that is given behind this theory is that this will provide an opportunity to the male sperm to fertilize the egg prior to the female sperm. Thus, it will ensure the much access of the male sperm to the cervix as possible.
According to this theory that is related to gender selection pregnancy, if you are looking for a baby girl, you will need to adopt the method of shallow penetration in the missionary position. Thus, the sperm will be deposited at the mouth of the cervix and it is considered favorable to the slow moving sperm i.e. female sperm. However, orgasm must be avoided. In this way, it will assist in keeping your vaginal environment highly acidic. Besides this, avoid having sex on 3rd or 4th day before ovulation and start making love two days before ovulation. Also, if an ovulation kit is being used, then love should be made when the solution is darkest.
Putting these theories aside, more and more sophisticated technologies are available at fertility clinics. Due to these clinical gender selections, now ultimately couples have option to decide the gender of their baby without any need of relying on untrustworthy techniques or theories. There has been a tremendous improvement in sperm sorting technologies.
